On college campuses, in synagogues and churches around America and Florida you may find a program titled "The Olive Tree Initiative" (OTI). This program began at the University of California - Irvine and has been embraced by the Jewish Federation of Orange County, California. According to the OTI website:
"The Olive Tree Initiative aims to promote dialogue and discussion regarding the Israeli-Arab conflict. This educational student-led initiative is modeled after empiricism - gaining knowledge through experience. Students travel to the region and learn about the conflict from a personal perspective, independent of the media."
OTI is just one of the initiatives being promoted by the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy. It is supported by President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Laurie Heintz is the Secretary to the Board of Directors of the US Center for Citizen Diplomacy. Laurie lives in Fort Myers, Florida.
So who is really behind the Olive Tree Initiative?
According to Dee Sterling from Ha'Emet the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) was hosted by the Olive Tree Initiative. Ha'Emet reports, "The OTI is associated with groups such as the International Solidarity Movement (on the ADL list of the top 10 anti-Israel groups in the US)."
According to the ISM website: "The International Solidarity Movement (ISM) is a Palestinian-led movement committed to resisting the Israeli apartheid in Palestine by using nonviolent, direct-action methods and principles. Founded by a small group of primarily Palestinian and Israeli activists in August, 2001, ISM aims to support and strengthen the Palestinian popular resistance by providing the Palestinian people with two resources, international solidarity and an international voice with which to nonviolently resist an overwhelming military occupation force." In Florida we have the South Florida Palestine Solidarity Network, which works with the Jewish Voice for Peace (JVP). The JVP website states:
"JVP opposes anti-Jewish, anti-Muslim, and anti-Arab bigotry and oppression. JVP seeks an end to the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem; security and self-determination for Israelis and Palestinians; a just solution for Palestinian refugees based on principles established in international law; an end to violence against civilians; and peace and justice for all peoples of the Middle East." [My emphasis]
The Olive Tree Initiative, the International Solidarity Movement and the Jewish Voice of Peace are all designed for one purpose and one purpose only: To take our best and brightest college students to the West Bank and indoctrinate them against Israel and US Middle East policy.
The tentacles are deeply embedded on our college and university campuses, synagogues and churches. It is important to know who is behind these kinds of global outreach programs - Sharia compliant organizations bent on the destruction of Israel.
